It has been two-years since the pandemic changed the world forever. Most organisations and individuals dealt with the devastating effects of the pandemic and have adjusted and adopted the new norm.
To be better prepared for the next major disruption it is important to reflect and use the past learnings to improve organisational resilience for the future.
Reflect on the past, by asking yourself the following questions:
- Did your business continuity management (BCM) programme improve over the past two-years (meaning: was the BCM programme reviewed, updated and tested)?
- Did you align your business continuity and risk management approach to identify and analyse the risk landscape (meaning: was a risk assessment part of the BCM programme review or update)?
- How successful was your organisation in the transition to work remotely, in terms of Information Technology capacity and capability (meaning: did you test your disaster recovery environment and solutions)?
- What was the key impacts of the pandemic? (meaning: did you consider the following results of the pandemic: Financial, Reputational, Operational and what did you do with the outcomes)?
- How did your work force cope (meaning: did you consider the impact on mental health, physical wellbeing and meeting performance targets that was associated with the rapid and significant changes brought about by the pandemic)?
Use the answers to these questions, to prioritise your future BCM efforts and resources
